Relieved to be Working in the Cloud

Last Thursday, whilst bookkeeping for a client at their office, my laptop adaptor stopped working. I didn’t realise until I had less than an hour battery life left.

Luckily, like all my clients, the accounts were on Xero, all the “paperwork” was in dropbox and their office is only 10mins drive from my home. Within half an hour I was back up and running on my very old laptop. All I had to do was download dropbox and the working day continued.

This incident did make me very relieved that I now work with an online accounting system. If I’d been using a desktop system I would have been unable to continue working.

Even though I use Outlook for email I could still receive incoming mail through my phone and as I forward all relevant client emails to CapsuleCRM, another online system, I still had everything I could possibly need to hand.

My new adaptor arrived the following day. It was good feeling getting back onto my usual laptop but it was even better knowing I hadn’t lost a day of work.
