Xero Touch: Expense Claims on the Move

Submitting expense claims always seems to cause headaches. A transaction appears on the bank or credit card statement and you can’t remember what it was for. Receipts can’t be found (as they are a well washed ball of paper in the pocket of your favourite trousers) to back up the claims. Something that should take a few minutes a month turns into a nightmare.

Xero have been working on this very problem with their newly released Xero Touch m.xero.com.

As soon as that train ticket has been purchased, you can enter the details into Xero via your mobile phone and forget about it. At the moment, you will still need to keep the ticket safe and file it on your return to the office.

BUT…if you have an iPhone, once Xero Touch has been submitted to the App Store, you can take a photo of the receipt to upload into Xero. You will always have a copy of the receipt. No more hunting down bits of paper or trying to remember what a purchase was for. No more monthly expense claim headaches. All the receipts will have been recorded in Xero as the purchases were made. At the end of the month, your expense claim can be submitted within a few seconds, ready for approval and reimbursement.

Part two of this blog, Xero Touch – Invoicing on the Move, will be published tomorrow.

I have been nothing but impressed with the new Xero App. In fact I actually used the expense claim feature today after visiting a client. It worked great and the company director was able to see this as a pending expense right after I had submitted it. With the addition of the camera feature for the final release there will be no reason for not properly submitting an expense claim.

Thank you for your comments Ben. I absolutely agree with you, this is exactly how it is intended to be used. Completely up to date accounting.

We’re heading overseas for a month in July and we were wondering how we were going to keep up to date with business issues; Xero Touch is the answer. Awesomeness to Rod and the Team at Xero.
